Here's where we've been in years past:
2005
Finally, after years of thinking about it and lots of planning, we headed
off to hawaii in february. This was
our big trip of the year. We even stopped off in los
angeles to break things up on the way to and from the islands.
In may we made our
initial trip to a few more states: tennessee,
kentucky, and arkansas.
We saw graceland, the kentucky derby and more over five days and four
nights.
In april we took
a one day excursion down to washington,
DC for the annual cherry
blossom festival. And in july we visited the new indian
museum and took in a nationals
baseball game.
And we just had
to make the trek north to boston now
that the red sox were world
series champs! We got up to fenway over the labor day weekend.
2004
For the first time in over 30 years, we headed down south to the lone
star state: texas. This was a yee haw
good time!
On june 9, I attended
the funeral procession for president
ronald reagan in our nation's capital, washington,
DC. Then in august, I visited the new world
war II memorial, plus arlington
cemetery and the FDR
memorial.
In july, I witnessed
a reenactment of the infamous burr
- hamilton duel in weehawken, nj.
In august, I revisited
a favorite vacation spot from my childhood: wildwood, nj. (Pictures
coming soon!)
Then for thanksgiving,
we headed down to virginia
for dinner at mount
vernon, a quick tour of some lesser
known sites around DC, and also a stop in annapolis
for a tour of the naval
academy.
2003
In february, we continued on our caribbean exploration, hitting puerto
rico this time. It was a big island to explore and a lot of fun.
In march was our
4th edition of our annual sports trip, this time including orlando's
bay hill golf tournament in 4
sports in 4 days.
In the summer, we
hit the outer
banks in north
carolina, and then niagara
falls and toronto
(our first trip to canada in over 30 years).
Then it was our
big trip of the year, featuring the northwest cities of seattle,
vancouver,
and victoria,
canada. What a beautiful area of the country.
2002
In february, I finally made it to the cayman
islands! I've heard a lot about this place over the years, and it's
all true. Just an incredible place, with a very relaxed pace. Drinks
at the pool, then great seafood dinners at night. If you ever have a
chance to go, go!
In
march, we headed for florida for our third sports trip in four years,
this time hitting 5 sports
in 4 days!
And
in may, I finally made it out to northern
california. I hadn't been to california since I was in college,
but that trip was somewhat limited. And before that, I had been there
when I was 10 years old. So this trip was going to cover a lot of ground.
It was great! We even managed to stop in las
vegas on our way our there and back, and spent a day up in western
nevada.
We
also made our first trip up to maine
for fall foliage and another stop in mystic,
ct.
Following
up the california spring trip, we finished off the year with a trip
to southern california
in december. Wow! Besides los angeles and surrounding areas, we managed
to fit in san diego and a number of national parks.
2001
In april, we made first time visits to both savannah
and charleston
and sampled the charms (and food!) of the old south. In july, we visited
for the first time ocean
city and annapolis.
Over
the thanksgiving weekend, we went to plymouth,
ma. for turkey dinner, and then made a quick tour of new
england with stops in new
hampshire, vermont,
mystic, ct., and
newport, r.i.
We
made it to florida
again for christmas, which included miami beach, key west, orlando,
and a side trip over to the bahamas.
2000
In february, we traveled to new
orleans, which is famous for its food, parties and swamps. As you
may know, this is the home of MartyGras! In march was the second
annual sports trip to florida.
Then
for a week around memorial day, we went west to arizona
and las vegas. Finally, we took
a christmas holiday
trip to florida.
1999
In march, we initiated what will hopefully become an annual event: 5
sports in 5 days in florida!
frequent
travel
We also travel to baltimore and
boston (and as mentioned above, florida)
on almost an annual basis.
