We
left plymouth on
friday morning, drove around boston, and north into new hampshire. We
were mainly passing through on our way to vermont, but we first stopped
for lunch in downtown concord at the capitol grille across the street
from the capitol office complex. I got some good pictures of the area,
including the statue of daniel webster (at
left) outside the state house, before we continued on our journey.
Slowly
but surely, the landscape got more and more mountainous as we headed
north into the white mountains. Perhaps the most famous mountain on
the east coast is the old man of the mountain, where we took pictures
and observed the first signs of snow this year. I'm not sure what else
new hampshire is known for! The image was formed from thousands of years
of glacial action (more information). They
even have the "old man of the mountain" on their state quarter!
Soon after our look
at the mountain, the road curved west and we crossed the connecticut
river into vermont
We were also in
portsmouth, nh in october 2002 on our way to maine and had dinner
at radici. Read a review of this great italian
restaurant.
