Toronto 2003

We drove about two hours from Niagara Falls up to the very cosmopolitan city of Toronto, along the banks of Lake Ontario. First stop was the Hockey Hall of Fame (see my Hall of Fame pics). Besides the usual displays at a place like this, they had an interactive area where you got to shoot a puck at a goalie or play goalie and attempt to stop shot from Messier and Gretzky. Lots of fun! Upstairs is the trophy room, with plaques honoring all the hall of famers, plus of course the most famous trophy in sports, the Stanley Cup. You can even pose next to the cup.

After lunch at some fast food place in an underground mall, we walked over to the CN Tower, which is the world's tallest building! They have a restaurant and observation deck, but what sets this tower apart from all the rest is the glass floor, which you can stand on and look straight down 1,815 feet (check out my pic of my feet standing on the glass and looking down). Next door to the tower is the Skydome, home of the Toronto Blue Jays (see my Blue Jays pics). Today's game was against the Texas Rangers, and I had tickets in the second level just behind home plate. On this level there was a sit down bar and even a pool table just behind my seats. Pretty neat.

After the game we had something of a wild goose chase trying to find a restaurant that we could all agree on for dinner. We finally settled on the Jump Cafe, a funky restaurant in the downtown business district. I started off with a martini with fresh cranberries and raspberries, and then had a nice salmon along with the "jump fries" which are cut from Yukon Gold potatoes. This is a restaurant that would be lots of fun after work. Definitely worth checking out.

Although there was lots of other places I would like to see in Toronto, it was already around 8:00 PM and time to head back to our hotel in Niagara Falls.
