Baltimore has long been one of my favorite cities. When I
was a kid, we went to baltimore almost every summer to see my favorite
sports team, the baltimore orioles.
I still remember the "perfect" lineup: don buford, paul blair,
frank robinson, boog powell, brooks robinson, davey johnson, elrod hendricks,
mark belanger, and the pitcher, which could be dave mcnally, jim palmer
or mike cuellar. I've still got lots of memorabilia (and memories) from
those games in memorial stadium.
Of course, times
change. The team eventually moved to their fancy new stadium, camden
yards, and they've become the worst team that money can buy. I lost
interest in baseball after the 94 strike, and it's never been the same.
(But check out my camden
yards pics from the inaugural season and my more recent
orioles
2007 pics.)
Recently I've discovered
crabcakes, and baltimore has some of the tastiest morsels around. So
once again, it's one of my favorite cities. While the inner harbor is
the tourist magnet, those in the know head on over to fells point, which
is much more authentic and without the generic mall feel of harborplace.
And now baltimore
has the ravens, my new football
team. (I was also a baltimore colts fan growing up. As you can imagine,
I lost interest in football about equal to that of baseball.)
In the summer
of 2001 we traveled to ocean city and annapolis for some crab crackin'
and hangin' out on the beach. Check out our itinerary
and our pics of ocean
city outdoors, the ocean
city food, and annapolis
harbor!
For thanksgiving
2004, we started in alexandria
and mount vernon and ended up in annapolis.
Also be sure to check out my annapolis
2004 pics.
