Vegas
is the city that never sleeps (or is that new york?). Well,
vegas does have the new york new york hotel and casino. You can also
visit paris, venice, mandalay and egypt, all more or less within walking
distance of each other.
We
first passed through town when I was 10 years old, but that
doesn't really count. I remember seeing "one armed bandits"
in gas stations and diners, but I wasn't allowed to pull the handle,
and the employees made sure you didn't. Since that time, there have
been a lot of changes in town, especially with the action moving away
from downtown and toward the big themed hotel casinos on the southern
end of the strip.
Finally,
in june 2000, the chance came to do vegas
properly. We liked it so much we stopped back in june
2002. We made a very brief stop here after our drive around southern
california in december 2002. In march 2006
we hit the poker rooms and checked out the new wynn casino, and we were
back for more in october 2006. Check
out the write ups from those trips and the pictures too!
