As
we headed north out of colorado,
we crossed into wyoming, drove through cheyenne and continued on to
casper, where we stopped for dinner. Man, this place was a ghost town
on a sunday. Almost nothing was open down town. We finally found johnny
j's, a 50s style diner which was packed and average at best.
After dinner, we continued north until we reached our destination for
the night, the small town of buffalo, wyoming.
day
3: monday, august 20 480 miles
We had a simple breakfast, took a quick drive through downtown buffalo,
and continued our trek north. We stopped in at the larger town of sheridan,
which had a cool, western style downtown. The famous mint bar was even
open at 9:00 AM, so we stopped in for a brew (see my around
wyoming pics)!
But soon enough,
we were back on the road. We would have liked to have seen devils
tower, where they filmed some of close encounters of the third kind,
but it was a little out of the way for us to keep on our schedule. So
we stayed on interstate 90 and crossed the state line into montana
. . .
As we left south
dakota we were once again crossing through wyoming. We stayed
the night in the state capital, cheyenne, and had dinner downtown near
the old train depot.
day
8: saturday, august 25 270 miles
After breakfast we made a quick stop in downtown cheyenne again. We
headed over to the state capitol and ran across st.
mary's cathedral (see my around
wyoming pics). We also explored the wrangler western
wear shop and the saturday farmers' market across the street. Then we
headed out of town and out of wyoming, and back into colorado
. . .
