As
we left wyoming,
we were finally closing in on our only true destination of the day:
little big horn battlefield national
monument. This is such a remote location, and it seemed like we
would never be near this part of the country again anytime soon, we
had to make the somewhat out of the way drive to get here. There's really
not much to see except rolling hills, grave markers, and a 10 minute
movie about what led up to the battle, and its aftermath (see my little
big horn pics). But of course this is, after all, a burial
ground.
After driving through
little big horn we headed slightly west to reach montana's largest city,
billings. It was a bustling small town, and really almost something
out of the 50s. We stopped for lunch at the montana
brewing company, which had pretty good beer and excellent food!
Then we hightailed
it due east on interstate 94, through the towns of miles city and glendive,
and crossed for our first time ever into the state of north
dakota . . .
