2005 Playoff Skinny

How bout them predictions for 2004 that I made in September? What, you don't believe in Johnny "Rasputin" Maz? Hello, read it and weep Martytown viewers (and I know there are many). Only with the Chiefs (Marty's team) did the great Maz make a bad prediction. (Figures it's Marty's team.) Well as the sports reporters like to say in January, time to separate the contenders from the pretenders so here goes.

The NFC
Lets get the diaper league stuff out of the way. The Beagles/ Eagles are still the class of this conference that has more bogus storylines than a Desperate Housewives' episode. By the way, how many CSI shows are there on TV now? What's next, "Fargo CSI" the real truth behind the Oscar winning movie?

Back to the NFC, even without TO/ Terrell Owens the Eagles should breeze though this has been conference. I can see the Pack or the Falcons giving the Eagles a game, but no contest here, the Eagles are going to the Super Bowl in Jacksonville as will the greatest golfers in March for The Players Championship.

The AFC
As Joe Scarborough would say, time to skinny up the "Real Deal" conference. This one is tough on me. I have the easy pick of the Patriots, but without Tyrone Poole at corner and a gimpy Richard Seymour and Ty "Law and Order" it's going to be tough. I have the Jolts/ Colts to get by the lowly Broncos and then play the Pats in a playoff classic in Foxboro. I have the Chargers going for the upset in Pittsburgh but coming up short in the end, kind of like that Republican candidate for governor in Washington state. I can see an all Pennsylvania Superbowl in February and I will go with the Eagles to get their first ring if it comes down to a Keystone State battle. In the rare event this does not happen the Patriots and the Packers will play for the Lombardi Trophy in a rematch of the 96 bowl, with the Pats coming out on top and giving Bret Favre a sad ending to a sad year. Well see you in Jacksonville, so long from the home office in beautiful Allentown NJ.

P.S. happy 17th birthday Jamie, this skinny is for you!
