The
biggest upset in Super Bowl history? Well, it might not
have been quite that big (my childhood team, the Baltimore Colts, suffered
that fate at the hands of that other New York team) but the New
York Giants stunned the undefeated and seemingly destined New England
Patriots in Super Bowl 42.
The Pats played
well but didn't put these pesky Giants away. So they left just enough
wiggle room for some late game heroics by Eli Manning and his receiver
corps. First
Eli escaped a sack and threw up a prayer, which was just a crazy catch
to keep the drive alive. Then he found his bread and butter man, Plaxico
Burress, in the end zone for the go ahead TD with only seconds left
in the game. Bill Belichick (classless as usual) walked off the field
even before the final horn had sounded.
