2008 Playoff Skinny

It's time for the contenders versus the contenders. No Ball States on this schedule. It's win or go home in the nation's best playoff system for team sports, where all is fair in football and war. Well just a couple of hollyweird notes: 1.) Britney still trying to gain access to her kids. Is there a DYFS in California? 2.) Writers' strike bringing down late nite and prime time TV. Sports rule now! Boy how good is this strike. Too much Howie Mandel and other reality shows. Networks will cave on this one.

The NFC
Well, on to the picks. For wild card weekend, I like the road warrior Giants to knock off Tampa. The Bucs stop this weekend by a Giant named Manning. If the butterball / butterhand giant receivers can catch a ball once in a while look for a Giant win for Coughlin and the boys from the Garden State.

In the other NFC matchup I like the Seahawks to knock off the Deadskins. I like how the Skins rallied after the Death of S. Taylor, but they're no match for the home of the twelfth man. I look for Alexander to break out for 100+ yards and Branch to catch a TD or two. Hawks by 10.

The AFC
In the real deal Conference I'm going with the home underdog Steelers to zag by the Jags. Big Ben throws for 300 + and Heinz "not the Ward of the state "to catch 2 TDs and 100 yards. The Jags have a shot but you can't count on QBs Gray or Garrard. Heck one is named after the South and the other is a first name.

In the other matchup I like the Bolts to finish off the Titans. Despite Muddy Rivers and Norv "can I have Troy back" Turner I look for the Bolts to win this in a runaway, 35-10. Look for LT and Antonio "open the flood Gates" for 3 TDs.

See everybody next week when my PATS and the Jolts get seeded. Til then see you at the tailgate! (By the way the spygate game was great.) Hey, all is fair in football and war.
