It
looks like another tough year in Philly. Yes, thankfully we
got rid of Mutombo, but little else was accomplished in the offseason.
Greg Buckner? Monty Williams?? Give me a break. These are marginal
players that just don't amount to a hill of beans. The Sixers may
sneak into the 7th or 8th seed since the East is so weak, but look
for another quick playoff exit, and then a summer of major changes
in 2003.
Look,
we're not jumping off any bandwagon here, just stating the sad facts
as we see them. We wish the Sixers were better, but they're not.
So we'll still root for them, watch them on TV (we gave up the season
ticket package this year too!), and hope they can get value for
Iverson before it's too late.
And
in the meantime, we'll be looking up the road north to the Meadowlands,
where an exciting brand of basketball is played. We only hope the
Mutombo acquisition doesn't screw up the Nets'
"Princeton offense".
