When people list their favorite Hitchcock movies, Shadow of a Doubt usually isn't in the top five. But for me, it's right up there among his best works. I first discovered actress Teresa Wright in this movie (it was only her 4th film!), and what a fantastic job she does!

The story concerns a family in Santa Rosa, California and their visiting uncle (Joseph Cotten). Everything is very normal, except that the teenage girl of the family (Teresa Wright) slowly begins to suspect that her beloved uncle could be a killer. The juxta position between the friendly family members and neighbors with the suspicious uncle is delicious. Hitchcock builds the suspense with the net closing in on Cotten. Will his family find out the awful truth? Can he really be the killer? There's just a shadow of a doubt!
