I've been a big fan of John Mellencamp
since he was Johnny Cougar. In my opinion, he's had a better run and
a larger total body of work than that other "working class"
hero, Bruce Springsteen and I'm even from Jersey. All that
being said, Mellencamp's latest is not a completely satisfying album,
although the top two songs, Your Life Is Now and Eden Is
Burning, are worth the purchase price.
I also saw him
in concert last fall for the first time, and he was excellent. He
played all the old standards, and not one meandering self-absorbed
10 minute rambler like that other "working class" hero.
