Summer
Sanders joins the USA Sports broadcast team in 2001 for USA's live,
exclusive coverage of the US Open Tennis Championships. The Olympic
gold medal-winning broadcaster will serve as a field reporter during
USA's 92 hours of US Open coverage.
Sanders currently
co-hosts the NBA/WNBA show NBA "Inside Stuff" along with Ahmad Rashaad,
and also hosts Nickelodeon Network's kid/family game show "Figure
It Out." Sanders also hosted MTV's "Sandblast," and did swimming commentary
for NBC during the 1996 Olympic Summer Games in Atlanta. She also
worked as "The Today Show" special correspondent and for MSNBC's "Scholastic
at the Olympic Games" during the 2000 Olympic Summer Games in Sydney.
She continues her work on "The Today Show" as a human interest contributor,
and will work for NBC Sports at the 2004 Olympic Winter Games in Salt
Lake City.
Sanders' athletic
resume includes two golds, one silver, and one bronze medal from the
1992 Olympic Summer Games in Barcelona. Sanders, who also won six
individual NCAA championships, won gold medals in the 200M Butterfly
and 4x100M Medley Relay. She garnered a silver medal in the 200M Individual
Medley and a bronze medal in the 400M Individual Medley. Sanders is
one of a handful of American women swimmers to qualify for four individual
Olympic swimming events.
Sanders was born
on October 13, 1972 in Roseville, California and attended Stanford.
Sanders is an ardent supporter of Olympic Aid, and appeared in the
blockbuster movie "Jerry Maguire." She is the author of a parenting
book entitled "Champions Are Raised Not Born." She currently resides
in New York City.
