I
started watching soccer in 1994 when the men's world cup
was played in the usa. It was okay, but the united states wasn't really competitive. Then
the women's world cup team came along, with mia hamm, julie foudy,
brandi chastain, and michelle akers. They were pretty good, I was
hooked, and to top it off, they won the championship.
Now we have the
WUSA, which is an eight team league,
with the local team, the philadelphia
charge, playing out of villanova. They made the playoffs last
year, but I barely noticed. But the team had more buzz this year,
with lots of media coverage of heather mitts and lorrie fair. So when
they made the playoffs again, and were playing mia's washington
freedom, I had to go. The temperature was brutally hot, and the
game was just okay (washington scoring the only goal at about the
80 minute mark), but it was worth it.
I did get some
pictures during warm ups. Click the pics below for each player's photo
