On
our way back from the masters, we left georgia and quickly
ran through south
carolina on our way towards chapel hill. We had planned to spend
monday night in durham (next door to chape hill) because north carolina
was in the final four and had a 50/50 chance of playing in the title
game — and we'd be in town! Of course, they lost in the semis so
chapel hill was dead on monday night. We watched the kansas-memphis
title game at the carolina
brewery in downtown chapel hill with a crowd of about twenty. On
the plus side, the beer was really excellent!
The
next day we made a quick tour of duke university, including the massive
chapel (see my pic),
drove into raleigh to explore the state capitol grounds (see my raleigh
pics), and then hit the chatham
hill winery just outside of raleigh for a tasting and some take
home. We had lunch at saltgrass
steakhouse in a very cool mall outside of durham, and then finally
headed north into virginia
and towards home.
