I discovered Fountains of Wayne last summer, thanks to Bill
V talking me into a concert down the shore. Just pure pop fun! It
turns out this is their third album, and almost every song is good.
Of course, the big single is Stacy's Mom,
a big song and my Song of the Year!
I saw them again
recently at Princeton's McCarter Theater. While the (mostly) teen
and college crowd was jumping to their familiar pop grooves, I enjoyed
their impromptu medley of 70s and 80s tunes from the likes of the
Cars and Kansas, most of which was lost on the younger folks. Which
just goes to show the sly fun that this band is having as they climb
the charts.
