What can be said about another repackaging of the Rolling
Stones' greatest hits? They're still the Stones, a.k.a.
the world's greatest rock n roll band! That's right, Mick, Keith,
and the boys are the greatest.
But a word of
warning: Fully 16 of the forty tracks are from Hot Rocks, their
greatest hits collection from 1971, and another 5 or 6 are from More
Hot Rocks. That means that more than half of their greatest musical
output occured in their first decade, while the other half occured
in the following three decades! Amazing. And the four new songs are
pretty lame, in my opinion.
If you don't have
a lot of Stones' music in your collection, you might want to buy this,
but a better bet would be picking up almost any of their studio efforts
from the 60s or 70s. I also recommend 1981's Tattoo You and
1989's Steel Wheels.
