As soon as I heard that Sugar Ray
had a new release, I couldn't wait to buy it. That's how much I liked
their previous release, 14:59. And the first single off this
album, When It's Over, is my early candidate for Song
of the Year! (Note: The MTV video, while not bad, is topped
by their cartoon version appearing on cartoon network. It's sort of
a takeoff on the Jetsons, and a lot of fun! Check it out at cartoonnetwork.com's
web
premiere toons.)
While some of
the songs are just okay, and there's only eleven of them, there are
no really weak songs like a few that appeared on 14:59. Almost
all of their early leanings toward rap are absent here (a really good
thing!). And with more power pop winners like Answer the Phone,
the opening track, this band continues to crank out the hits and should
be around for a long time.
