I'm
a big fan of John LeCarre, so when I heard his book The
Tailor of Panama was now a movie starring Pierce Brosnan, I had
high hopes. But this movie is a big, muddled disappointment. I'm willing
to accept some confusion and misdirection in a spy story, but not
if the story is so poorly developed that you really never know what's
going on, or it's so implausible that it seems silly to think this
would fool anyone, much less governments and their operatives. I guess
it's okay if you like this sort of movie, but overall it doesn't add
up.
