Here's a drug trafficking movie that's fun! Johnny Depp starts out as a kid who tries some marijuana on his first visit to southern California in the late 60s. Soon he's running a small smuggling operation out of Mexico with some friends. Of course, he gets caught, spends time in jail, and gets introduced to some hardened criminals who are going for the big time: cocaine. When Depp gets out of jail, he's now smuggling cocaine and working with the drug king pins in Colombia, including Escobar himself. Although Blow is about a serious subject, Depp is a very likable character who we hope will get his act together before he gets in too far over his head. Unlike the insufferable Traffic, this movie isn't preaching, it's just telling a (true) story about one guy who couldn't stop and couldn't get out.
