This
movie had a lot going for it (I thought), including Ben
Affleck and the always great Charlize Theron. It's the story of an
ex-con (Affleck) who convinces his cell mate's pen pal (Theron) that
he's the one who was writing to her while in prison. (His cell mate
was killed in prison just before he was due to be released.) But Theron's
lowlife brother (Sinise) has other plans for Affleck, which include
robbing an Indian-run casino in Michigan on Christmas Eve (where Affleck's
cellmate previously worked and supposedly knows something about the
security setup, etc.). There's some standard suspense, some unlikely
situations, complications, etc., etc., and then there's the ridiculous
twist at the end. Give me a break. As bad as this movie is, Theron
is worth one of my two stars all by herself.
