A
very interesting if somewhat subdued
effort, Panic tells the story of a guy (William H Macy) who
works as a hit man for the mob, which is run by his dad (Donald Sutherland).
But he wants out, and consults a psychologist to help him with his
moodiness and sense of desperation. (Panic is similar in its
major plot outline to Analyze
This, but that was a comedy.) We know that a conflict is building
between father and son, and that this will play out in the movie's
climax. But there are some surprises along the way, and the ending,
although it wasn't entirely satisfying, is perhaps a fitting conclusion.
I would have rated it higher, but the pace is a bit too slow at times.
