Reese Witherspoon plays a "most likely to succeed" type who expects to run unopposed for high school president. But civic-minded civics teacher Mathew Broderick doesn't want her to have everything handed to her on a silver platter, so he subtly recruits the class jock to run against her. The jock's younger sister also decides to join the fray, pledging to abolish the useless student government if elected. This gets a standing ovation from the student body but gets her expelled from school. Meanwhile, Broderick will stop at nothing and risks his career to beat back Reese's inevitable election. A great movie, with a funny ending that shows you can sorta "get even" at those who are born to succeed.
