Tense
legal drama about a toxic waste dump in Massachusetts that
may have caused lots of deaths and illnesses, which John Travolta
is out to prove. Of course, the chemical companies play the bad guys
here, but they have a folksy lawyer of their own, played convincingly
by Robert Duvall, who isn't about to concede anything to the good
guys.
The movie starts
out nicely with Travolta as a hot shot lawyer who couldn't care less
about a worthwhile case unless there's money to be made, who comes
around to the plaintiffs' plight, but then the film turns into fairly
standard fare: the good guys are running out of money, they can't
win the legal points even though their case is just, etc., etc. Not
bad, but it could have been better.
