This is the kind of off-beat movie that I like. It's the story of a guy (Gallo) just released from prison who wants to visit his parents (Huston and Gazzara). Trouble is, he's told them that he's been working on a secret project for the government, and also that he's married. So he has to kidnap a girl (Ricci) and get her to pretend to be his wife. Crazy, and yet what's even funnier is that the parents really like her, but have nothing good to say about their son. Oh, and Gallo also wants revenge on the guy that landed him in prison. It seems that he bet on the Buffalo Bills in the Super Bowl (and of course they lost). He couldn't pay the bet to his bookie, so in a complicated deal he went to jail to satisfy the bet. So is he after the bookie? No, he's after the guy who missed the field goal! A must see.
My Movie of the Year!
