If
you like movies about kidnapping,
ransom, mistaken identity and bowling, this is the movie for you!
It's a comic farce about our hero Lebowski (the dude), played by Jeff
Bridges, who is mistaken for another guy named Lebowski (who is rich
and owes money to the mob). The other guy is the big Lebowski, Bridges
keeps telling the bad guys, and he is just the dude. In between all
of this, he also plays in a bowling league with John Goodman (at his
psycho best) and Steve Buscemi (who can never figure out what Goodman
and Bridges are talking about). At one point where Goodman and Bridges
are talking about money being a motive to do things and make a reference
to Lenin, Buscemi starts repeating "I am the walrus" thinking
they are talking about Lennon.
The Coen
Brothers get a little carried away with some weirdness and dream
sequences (as usual), but the funny characters and funnier dialogue,
more than the meandering plot, make this their funniest movie to date.
