This
movie looked promising, about some small time criminals
in Las Vegas with a secret past. It had good reviews on the box cover.
But it never really took off for me. Philip Baker Hall (Bookman the
library cop from Seinfeld) plays the lead. He's a somewhat
weary but knowledgeable gambler living on the fringe, and he befriends
some younger characters (John C. Reilly and Gwyneth Paltrow) who need
advice and guidance. He also helps get them out of some jams. And
eventually there's a showdown with Samuel L. Jackson. But the action
and pacing just didn't do it for me.
