Martytown
primarily features
areas of interest to me, and is not really intended to be a "commercial"
site. But a lot of what I like (books, music, videos, etc.) lends
itself to sales over the internet.
As everyone knows
by now, amazon.com
is a huge force when it comes to internet shopping. As chance would
have it, they offer websites like martytown the ability to link up with
them and maybe make a few bucks in the process. It's called the Amazon.com
Associates Program. Here's how it works:
-
I
create custom scripts within my web pages (that amazon provides) that
link my pages and images to either individual item pages at amazon,
or general interest areas.
-
Those
links provide amazon with information that the customer came from
my website.
-
If
there is a purchase as a result of my website "driving traffic"
to amazon, I get essentially a referral fee of around 5%.
Rather than promoting
shopping all over my site, I'm providing links from various sections
to the related shopping sections here at my shop page. (There are
some exceptions, such as music, where I have links directly from a
CD to the corresponding amazon page for that CD.) This shop section
will feature various items related to the relevant sections in martytown.
I'm also placing a few amazon.com links in strategic places throughout
the site.
So if you like to
purchase stuff on the internet, or with amazon.com, give it a try through
the links here at martytown. We appreciate it.
